Happy New Year 2011

Metro Atlanta was hit by a major snow storm Sunday. Snowfall began Sunday night 8.30PM.






Picture was taken at 10.20PM.

Then freezing rain on top of the amazing snowfall on Monday has rendered North GA paralyzed, i.e. my office is closed (since 2 days) as well as schools, restaurants, shopping malls.

! Please mention, that Ellie's office is operating and that she's a brave walker to and from the public transportation station, more sliding than walking :)!



Our aptmt parking lot on Tuesday 11AM - the forecast says it will take more days to recover, freezing temperatures will last until Friday.

Right timing; this weekend NFL start its wildcard games and College Football comes to the BCS National Championship game. So a new Samsung 40" flat screen TV and a Polk audio sound bar with a subwoofer cube were purchased. Sorry neighbor :)


Now we wait for Ruediger to visit and set up all the great audio stuff .
Saturday night was Highlight Factory time. Indiana Pacers were in guests in the Philips Arena, but the arena was max 40% occupied.


The result was 108-93 and the Hawks won their 8th straight game vs. Indiana.

The NFC South championship is in the books now.


We went to the Georgia Dome to support the Atlanta Falcons at their Sunday’s 31-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in the regular season finale at the Georgia Dome.


We had perfect seats in section 241 and saw the TD with the first drive. Carolina didn’t much going this Sunday and was 90% of the time at their 20 yard line. For more information watch http://www.atlantafalcons.com/

The Holiday Season was all about exploring new places/ die Feiertage standen ganz im Zeichen von: "Neue Orte kennenlernen".

We started in Mexico-Yucatan for Thanksgiving, spent Christmas in Park City, Utah and celebrated New Year's eve at our favorite restaurant in Atlanta....
Wir haben Ende November Mexico- Yucatan erobert, Weihnachten in Park City, Utah verbracht und Sylvester in unserem Lieblingsrestaurant in Atlanta gefeiert...

This summer I spent one Sunday in the
Henry Ford Museum (dearborn, mi). Exhibitions sections besides cars are, railroad, motorbikes, planes and heros of the sky, steam technology
from the Newcomen and Watt engines and power generation in the US as well as clothes household items and so on.
It is a walk through history of 100 years of Michigan. one of the best known models of Ford is the model T:



The Allegheny Locomotive #1601 is the centerpiece of our trains collection and a visitor landmark in Henry Ford Museum.
Built in 1941 and weighing in at 600 tons, this was one of the largest steam-powered locomotives ever built.




Presidential Limousines close to the entrance area are the other eye catchers



This is the limousine in which President John F. Kennedy was assassinated that day in Dallas, November 22, 1963.

we were on tour last weekend - North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains...
Letztes Wochenende waren wir unterwegs im Nachbarstaat North Carolina!
